- From Hanoi, you can buy tickets going to Vientiane at 3A Nguyen Gia Thieu, exit at the Cau Treo border gate (Ha Tinh province) or come to Vinh city, buy bus tickets to Xieng Khouang, cross Nam Can border gate. Ticket’s price is around 600,000 VND / berth car. The car owners will imprint the entrance and exit stamp, so you do not have to worry about the procedure.
- From HCMC, you can travel to Laos by land through border gates in Kon Tum and Quang Tri, Hue or Quy Nhon. In particular, the route Kon Tum - Laos is preferred. With a passport, you can start your tour.

If you have a motorcycle or a car and want to drive by yourselves, you can apply for a Vietnam - Laos through traffic permit at the Department of Transport. In addition, the national airline Vietnam Airlines has daily flights to Vientiane, but the fare is high, around 6-7 million VND.
